Akron Chronogram
Roger Zahab has been commissioned by the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Christopher Wilkins, music director, to celebrate its 6oth anniversary. Akron Chronogram will be a twenty minute kaleidoscopic work performed with video by artist Laura Ruth Bidwell with support from the Akron Art Museum, Mitchell Kahan, director, and will be premiered by the Akron Symphony Orchestra and conductor Christopher Wilkins in E. J. Thomas Hall, Akron, Ohio on April 21, 2012.

Zahab writes: I am writing a virtuoso work that is nonetheless "all melody all the time" for orchestra that I hope will capture sensations of being both inside music – as it is happening now, pulling you along - and outside – as if hearing it from various distances in time and space. It is composed of many streams of music superimposed and flowing through each other to evoke many of the peoples and musics that have lived through the Akron area, its Symphony, and in the memories of its people.
